Walking from Schiphol to Amsterdam
Can you actually walk from the airport into Amsterdam? Technically yes — and if you are travelling light with just a daypack it is physically possible. But it is roughly three and a half hours on foot to reach Dam Square, and almost everyone would rather spend those hours exploring the city itself.
The honest snag is the first leg, from the airport out to the edge of town: it is not built for pedestrians, no fun after dark, and surprisingly fiddly to navigate even with Google Maps open. Save the walking for the canals — and take the train or bus for the airport run.
